Whether or not there’s any incoming traffic, overtaking a long semi while angry over some other driver nearly running you off the road, can potentially end very badly.

Being angry when you’re behind the wheel is never a good thing. It can force you to act irrationally and dangerously, which might just be what happened here. Either way, paying attention and always being certain about incoming cars is crucial when deciding to overtake.

Of course, there are more than just a couple of things wrong in this video. First of all, the car with the dashcam was obviously approaching a section of the road with poor visibility (because of the slight right turn), evident by the initial pair of headlights that flash through the nearby trees ahead.

Second, as he’s preparing to launch himself past the truck, another car blows by him, with yet another risk taking driver behind the wheel. We can’t be sure who was at fault here because it’s impossible to know if the car that passed him was already performing the maneuver when our protagonist “stuck his head out”. If the other guy decided to pass him aggressively, then we could obviously direct the blame both ways.

Another thing one might suspect is that the driver of the camera car got annoyed as he was being overtaken and decided to execute his move even though at that point he could clearly see an incoming pair of headlights.

He was indeed lucky enough to be able to pass the truck (barely) and avoid a possibly fatal frontal collision, but unfortunately for him, he lost control of the car as soon as he got back onto his lane.

As the car skidded off the road, it flipped over once it reached the grass, though managing to land on its wheels – which is a good thing (flipping over JUST once), because it minimized the injury risk for its passenger/s. Still, there’s a pretty big lesson to be learned here, and it has nothing to do with driving skills in general. Just don’t take any risks. Simple, right?
