While the jury is still out on the Renault Talisman being a surprisingly sporty mid-size saloon, four-time F1 champion Alain Prost is rather impressed with its dynamics.

The video even starts off with Prost saying that this is his first time in the car as he first notices the spaciousness and comfortable ride, yet mentions how the steering is very responsive for a large car almost immediately.

Obviously, the main focus while doing this little test drive was the Talisman’s four-wheel steering system, called 4Control, which Prost praised before and after passing through a slalom course. He also mentions a few other things about the Talisman that we won’t spoil for you.

Prost’s loyalties as Renault brand ambassador mean this is not by any means an objective report, much less a review. Getting a strong upper hand on the competition in the non-premium mid-size segment isn’t easy. The Passat is an excellent all-rounder, as is the Mondeo or the Mazda6 but, with the right product, any established manufacturer can upset the status quo. Could the Talisman be the one? Renault certainly hopes so.
