A manual Mustang with a high-revving 526hp naturally aspirated V8 built for the track is something you really want to be as good as it sounds.

And it sounds really, really good thanks to its new flat-plane 5.2-litre that’s not only the most powerful naturally aspirated road-going engine Ford ever made but also packs the best specific output with 102hp per liter, a value we were used getting from Ferraris and rev-happy four cylinder Hondas.

But can really a muscle car be as good as a proper sports car? Why not, after all Ford made sure that to include all those bits that keeps frequent track users happy and of course the Internet. All they had to do is make all these ingredients work together, right? How hard can it be?
