A bizarre incident between a teenage driver and another motorist who confronted him about his driving behavior in Napa, California, is making the viral rounds across the web.

The man behind the camera is Chris Lundstrom who alleges that the youngster in the Ford Focus has been running through stop signs and speeding through residential areas near his son’s school.

On November 5, Lundstrom came across the teen who was in his car along with his friends while pulled over on the side of the road, and informed them in a somewhat strict tone that he would provide video and dash-cam evidence to the police department and their school’s headmaster.

The teen was apologetic, for the most part, but things changed direction when he told Lundstrom that he was not allowed to film them, before accusing him of molestation!

“I’m calling 911 right now,” the teen is heard saying in the video. “I’m getting molested. You touched me,” he continues. Lundstorm kept his cool and replied, “That’s fine. I never touched you. I’ve got it all on video”.

Apparently, the incident didn’t stop here, as we found out by Lundstorm who shared a lengthy post of the aftermath on his Facebook page.

According to Lundstorm’s account, after finding out the kid’s name, he contacted the Dean of the private school he attends and told him his side of the story about the youngster’s driving behavior. However, the student insisted on the molestation accusations, and as the law stipulates, the incident was reported to the police.

“The police interviewed the passengers in the car, who all stated that I never touched anyone in the car, I never attempted to touch anyone and I never attempted to enter the vehicle. The police also viewed this video and the dashcam video from my car,” wrote Lundstorm.

“As a result, I have been informed by the police that they will be pursuing three charges against the driver. One charge for his moving violations, one charge for having passengers in the car when his license doesn’t allow it and one charge for making false allegations against me. Likewise, he was expelled from the private school,” he said.

[From Chris Lundstrom]

“This driver had been reported for weeks by neighbors blowing through stop signs and speeding through residential areas, including an elementary school while students were arriving at school.

I observed him go around a group of cars who were waiting to turn right. He drove into the left turn lane and then turned right in front of the other cars who were waiting to turn right (and who were waiting on pedestrians).

Several people had previously reported he had nearly run them over as they were crossing the street or riding their bike to school. I was able to follow him and caught him driving in excess of 45mph (in a 30mph zone) and blowing through two stop signs. This was all captured on the dashcam of my car. Then, he suddenly decided to pull over and stop, so I stopped behind him and confronted him. That exchange was recorded on my phone (the video posted here).

Later, through local community efforts were we able to identify him and report his actions to the Dean of the private high school he attends. The Dean spoke to him, he continued to assert that I molested him. The Dean had no choice but to file a report with Child Protective Services about the molestation claim. The police were called as well.

The police interviewed the passengers in the car, who all stated that I never touched anyone in the car, I never attempted to touch anyone and I never attempted to enter the vehicle. The police also viewed this video and the dashcam video from my car.

As a result, I have been informed by the police that they will be pursuing three charges against the driver. One charge for his moving violations, one charge for having passengers in the car when his license doesn’t allow it and one charge for making false allegations against me. Likewise, he was expelled from the private school.

I am told, but cannot confirm, this was his third high school as he had already been kicked out of two others. I was also told the reason they suddenly stopped driving and pulled over was because they wanted to “vape” before school. I was also told, but cannot confirm, that his parent(s) have done nothing to address his behavioral issues and sense of entitlement. Simply moving him to a different school had been their solution. In fact, specific to this incident and the fact that he has been driving recklessly by a grade school I was told that his mother’s solution initially was “I’ll make sure he drives a different route to school from now on”.

This video was posted on YouTube and gained thousands of views within 24 hours and received 100’s of replies. I was shocked how violent many of the replies were regarding actions people wanted to take against the driver. Very shocked. Although the overwhelming consensus (which I agree with) is that nothing short of law enforcement action and public shaming was going to keep this kid from killing someone some day. Eventually, the video was removed from YouTube for allegedly violating their community standards regarding public shaming and bullying.

I am posting it again here. I have stated in other forums that I identify with this kid in many ways. When I was his age I got in trouble from time to time. Although, my parents actually stepped in to correct my behavior rather than letting it snowball out of control. To me and my community of neighbors, we don’t feel that this kid has that same level of parental support and that is why I posted the video.

The collective “village” as it were. Let’s see how Facebook responds…”
