The premium arm of Citroen revealed their new compact DS4S at the Guangzhou Motor Show in China.

The new DS4S is designed in France and will be locally produced in Shenzhen, exclusively offered to the Chinese market as the entry level model of the DS range. The new model features a set of front headlights decorated with 136 LEDs designed to look like ‘gemstones in a jewelry setting’. The LED tail lights have their own 3D lighting signature, emitting a ‘magnificent optical effect’.

Apart from the exterior, DS wants to attract premium buyers by using high-quality materials in the cabin, like the hand-crafted leather upholstery on the dashboard and the door cards, with the company saying that each one of them takes 8 hours to be completed. For the first time, the French company offers a new red tone of its leather trim while the signature watchstrap-style seats are also present.

Customers will be able to choose from two petrol engines, including the debut of the three-cylinder turbocharged 1.2-litre unit and the 1.8-litre THP unit in two power outputs, 136 and 204hp. The latter can be mated either to a manual or an automatic gearbox.

The new DS4S will go on sale in the first half of 2016, joining the DS5, the DS5 LS, and DS6 in the Chinese market.
