Land Rover is back with another interesting video. After showing us how a Range Rover can drive on a paper bridge, the British based brand brings its fastest and most powerful product ever, the Range Rover Sport SVR, out for an icy run.

With the company’s ambassador and polar explorer Ben Saunders behind the wheel taking instructions from former rally champion Minna Sillankorva, Land Rover shows the Range Rover Sport SVR driven fast on a replica of the Silverstone circuit, carved onto a frozen lake.

Obviously, I had an amazing day. It was my first time driving on ice and the most fun I’ve had on four-wheels. The performance of the Range Rover Sport SVR is simply breathtaking and its poise in the corners was astounding given the slippery conditions“, said Ben Saunders.

The explorer’s run was aided by the Terrain Response 2 system, which tailors a range of vehicle settings automatically, in order to suit the conditions. This adds to the permanent four-wheel drive of the SUV, with a two-speed transfer case, a 50/50 torque split between front and rear, the Torque Vectoring by Braking, which improves grip and steering response and reduces understeer, and the Dynamic Stability Control module.

The Range Rover Sport SVR uses a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine, rated at 550 PS (542hp) and 680 Nm (501lb-ft) of torque, connected to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. From 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h), the model needs just 4.5 seconds and it can reach a top speed of 162 mph (260 km/h).

When it was introduced more than a year ago, the SUV managed to lap the Nurburgring Nordschleife in just 8 minutes and 14 seconds, the fastest time ever recorded by a vehicle in its class.
