The Mercedes Benz SL looks slicker than ever after its mid-cycle visual overhaul.

As if the drop-top model wasn’t already doing a great job on the luxury-performance front, Mercedes infused it with even more brilliance, spawning a very posh grand-touring roadster in the process.

Moved closer to the current Benz-branded design language, the SL got chiseled with a redesigned front-fascia that makes it looks less aggressive and more tempered (at least compared to the previous gen). But, as everybody knows, looks can be deceiving, and the latest iteration of the SL comes with a range of revised powerplants that boast a more potent power figure than the ones on the outgoing model. Well, most of them, at least.

From the “entry level” 362hp V6, S400 variant, to the 577 hp V8, SL63 AMG brute, the power upgrades are more or less noticeable. The only engine that didn’t receive any attention though, is the almighty 621 hp V12 SL65 AMG Variant.

As expected, the new SL comes with Mercedes’ latest high-tech systems, designed to make the driver’s experience even more extraordinary – especially if the potential buyer pays a little extra for them. So, for those willing to make their SL one of the most advanced roadsters in the world, the German car maker offers – among other things – Active Body Control with curve tilting, Magic Sky Control roof, and Driving Assistance Package with cruise control and active steering as optional extras.
