Yamaha Shows-Off The New MT-10 Bike [w/Video]

Although the retro craze is in full swing in the motorcycle world, Yamaha looks towards the future with its MT-10.

From the sea of scramblers, café racers, bobbers and choppers that took over the internet, Yamaha’s brand new proposal for the two-wheeled world looks like a cyborg from the future.

This fresh, naked bike comes with an all-new one-liter engine that “has the potential to challenge all comers in the naked bike class” – or so Yamaha tells us. Moreover, the Japanese company goes on saying that it developed the motorcycle for those looking for “a new kind of connected riding experience that can be enjoyed on any road, any time and at any speed”.

Yamaha did not specify any performance figures, though, but it did said that the 998cc, in-line 4-cylinder crossplane engine delivers linear torque in lower part of the rev band. Couple that with an ultra-short wheelbase of just 1400mm, and you’ve got yourself an agile handling vehicle; granted, the YZF-R1 based suspension systems also has a say in the bike’s dynamic ability.

It also feature some interesting equipment, such as “Assist and slipper clutch”, traction control, cruise control and “Chip Controlled Throttle – which lets the rider chose from three engine running modes to suit different situations and conditions.

Boasting a 17-litre fuel tank, 320mm dual front discs with radial mount 4-pot calipers with ABS, and lightweight aluminium Deltabox main frame with optimized strength/rigidity balance (among a wide array of other things), the MT-10 will be available beginning with May 2016 in three different color schemes: Night Fluo, Tech Black, and Race Blu.
