Alongside being one of the most beautiful cars on the market, the Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG Coupe offers class-leading luxury and performance and is now even available in Cabriolet guise.
While it seems obvious that most S65 AMG Coupe owners will choose to use their cars for the vehicle’s style and opulence rather than exploiting the German coupe’s performance potential, American tuning company Renntech does offer an upgrade package for the car.
Simply consisting of an upgraded ECU and a modified exhaust, Renntech has managed to extract 600 whp and 744 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels from the twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre V12 engine. While those figures aren’t much higher than a ‘standard’ S65, they do make the car that little bit faster, certainly enough to make more expensive and lighter supercars stand up and take notice.
Even in the official promo clip released by Renntech for its upgrades, the multifaceted personality of the S65 Coupe is apparent. Compared to the S63 with its V8 engine, the S65’s exhaust note is relatively muted in line with its more sophisticated aura. However, when given a boot full, it does leap off the line with amazing velocity and certainly makes us very envious of S65 AMG Coupe owners.
