With its hybrid supercar, BMW was the exception to the most automaker’s practice of releasing a concept car to preview a new model and then toning the eventual production car down massively.

Flowing body panels, curves shaped by the wind and elements to maximize its aerodynamics efficiency: the i8 tops out Munich’s range perfectly.

Slowly, tuning firms have started fiddling with it, and one of them is Energy Motor Sport, a small Japanese company that made a bodykit.

While the design of the i8 is sophisticated, , the Energy Motor Sport kit has chosen a more brash approach that definitely make it more aggressive. At the front end for example, a bespoke bumper has been installed incorporating sharp, downward-pointing fins. Additionally, a custom hood has been fitted, as have flared wheel arches.

The bold styling changes continue at the rear, with a custom bumper and diffuser as well as two large wings seemingly inspired by those from the Ferrari FXX K track-only hypercar. These new body features are enough to make the i8 look like a spaceship for the street – and to make it even more wild, it has a wrap combining matte silver elements with polished chrome and gloss black accents. Completing the project are large 21-inch BBS forged wheels with P Zero tires from Pirelli.
