Chevy’s Special Ops Silverado Concept From SEMA Will Make It Into Production

As you might recall, Chevy showcased a modified 1500 Z71 Silverado, dedicated for the special-operations forces, at SEMA. As it turns out, the truck will apparently fulfill its role as a rescue vehicle – but not in the traditional sense.

Presented again at the Army-Navy game – an event sponsored by the American car manufacturer for the sixth consecutive year – the Silverado created to salute the military personnel will apparently be made in a limited production run.

Chevrolet announced that the automobile is expected to go on sale next spring, and a portion of the proceeds from each Special Operations Silverado sold will be donated to benefit the Navy SEAL Museum, in order to aid the families of the fallen, as Navy SEAL Master Chief Rick Kaiser, stated:

“The partnership will also help us aid the families of fallen, injured and active duty Navy SEALs through the efforts of our Trident House and scholarship programs.”

The concept first shown at SEMA was garnished with aftermarket visual upgrades made to respect the Navy motif. Featuring new Chevrolet Accessories parts, including a bed-mounted sport bar with LED lights, off-road tires, wheel flares, 20-inch aluminum wheels, custom rocker guards, a GearOn utility system, and LED light strip stretching across the top of the grille, the vehicle was also painted in the naval-inspired “Razzle Dazzle” camo consisting of complex patterns of geometric shapes in contrasting colors.

Chevrolet didn’t specify anything about engine mods, which makes us to believe that the vehicle will be powered by one of the three Ecotec engines: a standard 4.3-liter V6 rated at 285hp and 305lb-ft (413Nm) of torque, a 5.3-liter V8 delivering 355hp and 383lb-ft (519Nm) of torque, and a range-topping 6.2-liter V8 certified at 420hp and 460lb-ft (623Nm) of torque.
