If you’re on the look out for a second-generation Ford GT, a quick look through the classifieds should bring up a number for sale at quite reasonable prices. Generally speaking, many GT models produced are similar to each other making it much harder to find a unique one however.

Well we’ve done the hard work for you and found this, the very first fully-functional Ford GT prototype, dubbed the CP-1, currently residing in the official Ferrari Museum and for sale on Exotic Car List.

This particular Ford GT was created in 2003 and is VIN 004, meaning its the first prototype to have been installed with both a drivetrain and completed interior. Ever since being built, it has barely been touched and is still installed with the connections and monitoring equipment used for emissions testing over a decade ago.

Adding to the value of the car are the signatures of 13 key Ford staff including the late Carroll Shelby, Bill Ford, chief designer Camillo Pardo and chief design engineer Fred Goodnow. Moreover, it is unlike production-spec Ford GT models as its rear clamshell is made entirely from carbon fiber, a feature later ditched for the road car due to cost cuts.

It was purchased directly from Ford in 2008 and has remained with that one owner, a noted GT collector, ever since.

Given how unique it is, it’s unsurprising no pricing details have been released but don’t expect it to remain for sale for very long.
