Ford may have ended its Focus RS documentary series, but that doesn’t mean it cannot tell its fans how other high-performance vehicles in its lineup came to life.

The lastest video focuses on the new generation of the Ford GT, in its track-only version, and it shows the supercar in various parts of its development, going from a simple sketch, to a scale model, to a prototype and the final version, which we saw earlier this year.

When you start talking about the design of the Ford GT, it’s never just let’s sketch something cool, it’s a celebration of material, it’s a celebration of performance, of iconic style, of heritage and of the future of the company“, said Ford’s exterior design manager, Garen Nicoghosian.

The new Ford GT racer will make its first public appearance at the 24 Hours of Daytona and, throughout 2016, it will compete in the IMSA Sportscar Championship and in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

Needless to say that the racer is based on the new generation of the supercar, which was first shown to the public back in January, at the 2015 NAIAS. The road version uses a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, capable of producing “more than 600hp” (609PS).

If you still have your eyes on it and can afford it, because it will carry a price tag of around $370,000 (£240,000), know that the blue oval plans to produce only 250 units annually, out of which 100 will be sold in the States.
