Chevrolet is set to build on the success of the 2016 Volt by revealing a improved version for the 2017 model year.

The new generation of the Volt was rolled out as a 2016MY in limited quantities only in select states such as California, but the 2017MY will be available nation-wide from Spring of 2016.

Cars Direct reports that the 2017 Chevrolet Volt will receive a number of improvements and emit fewer emissions than the current car, enabling it to conform to strict Federal Tier 3 emissions rules.

One of the most significant updates will be the inclusion of adaptive cruise control as an option for the range-topping Premier model. In order to enjoy adaptive cruise control, 2017 Volt owners will also need to have lane-keeping, low-speed automatic braking, intelligent high beams, blind spot monitoring, forward collision warning and rear cross-traffic alert systems. The 50 mile electric range of the current car will be retained.

Also for 2017, Chevrolet will offer customers a new color dubbed Citron Green Metallic.

Alongside these changes, Chevrolet will increase the price of the 2017 Volt by $100 compared to the 2016 car. Of that $100 price hike, $50 comes through a higher base price while the other $50 is from a more costly destination charge. As with the current car, the 2017 will be eligible for tax credits.
