Next-Gen Chevrolet Niva Leaked Through Alleged Patent Images

The second generation of the Chevrolet Niva revealed its exterior design in what are believed to be patent images.

The model follows the concept wearing the same name, which was unveiled back in 2014. Unlike the one-off’s rugged design, the final production version of the small SUV is toned down, but most of its lines and panels have been carried over.

The matte black paint covering its body is gone and replaced by a silver finish. The winch and headlight protection were dropped too, along with the roof rack carrying the extra spare wheel and the additional lights.

The different rims, wrapped in off-road tires, were left aside as well, and so were the badges, but keep in mind that we are still talking about patent images – it’s not like Chevy is going to drop its logos anytime soon…

The new generation of the Chevrolet Niva will have nothing in common with the Lada Niva, or the Lada 4×4 as it is currently marketed nowadays, unlike the previous version, which kept the underpinnings of the “ancient” Russian off-roader.

Initial data revealed that the compact SUV will measure just a little over 4.3 meters in length and it should come with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine under its hood, producing approximately 135hp.

The new Chevy Niva should be unveiled next year, in its final version, and it’s also expected to go on sale locally in 2016. The model is believed to be offered in markets outside Russia, too.
