Porsche’s GT division has an almost unmatched knack for producing the world’s best and most enjoyable driver’s cars. Whether its the brand new Cayman GT4 or the 991-generation 911 GT3 RS, such cars always walk away with numerous awards and its little surprise why.

In our eyes, the best Porsche GT car in production is the latest GT3 RS. We’ve seen it driven to its limits while thrilling journalists around the world and now thanks to the Cars channel on YouTube, we have the opportunity to see the car in its natural habitat; on a racetrack with no commentary and just the sounds of its free-revving engine and screeching tires.

If you can get over the poor encoding of this video which has made it annoyingly jerky in parts, it does perfectly demonstrate just how poised the GT3 RS can be on track, when it isn’t being driven sideways at every opportunity.

While the naturally-aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six engine of the GT3 RS isn’t the loudest or most powerful engine on the market, it is very special as the roar it produces is completely naturally. In a world where high-end performance cars are receiving synthetic engine and exhaust notes, the purity of the GT3 RS is something to be celebrated.

Performance wise, Porsche claims that the car can reach 60 mph in the low 3-second range thanks to its 500 hp and 338 lb-ft of torque. While those figures are impressive, the car is about more than its spec sheet and aims primarily to thrill and engage the driver. By all accounts, it achieves that brilliantly.
