Production Lexus LF-LC Will Reportedly Debut In Detroit As LC 500

A new report says that the production version of the sexy Lexus LF-LC Concept is just around the corner as it will be unveiled next month.

Motoring said that it will wear the LC 500 moniker, patented back in 2014, when it breaks cover at the 2016 Detroit motor show in January.

The 2+2 two-door coupe is expected to be powered by a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine, borrowed from the RC F and GS F, rated at 477 PS (470hp) and 530 Nm (391lb-ft) of torque, connected to a 10-speed automatic transmission signed by Aisin, in the LC 500 version.

It should also come in an LC 500h hybrid guise using a 3.5-liter V6, with 313 PS (309hp), and an electric motor generating 220 PS (217hp), for a total output that could exceed 476 PS (469hp). The same powertrain is also expected to be offered on the next-gen LS.

The new Lexus model is also believed to get an LC R range-topping variant, with a new 4.0-liter V8 engine under its hood, equipped with twin electric turbochargers, estimated to produce over 600-horses, but this model will reportedly hit the market later, sometimes in 2018.

The new Lexus LC 500 should be placed somewhere between the BMW 6-Series and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe.

More details on the production-ready Japanese coupe are expected to be released in the coming weeks and the first units of the car might reach showrooms in early 2017.
