18-year old Ethan Couch, known as the ‘Affluenza’ kid, was arrested in Mexico after fleeing the US for Mexico, violating his probation, two years after getting a slap on the hand for killing four people in a drunken-driving crash.

According to a report from CNN, The ‘Affluenza’ kid was reported missing earlier this month by his probation officer, after a video emerged showing him at a party consuming alcohol.

The 18-year old was detained by Mexican authorities with his mother near the popular beach resort town of Puerto Vallarta. His mother, Tonya Couch, was declared simply missing soon after the disappearance of her son and it’s still unclear if she will face any charges.

Couch had killed four people and injured two other seriously while being drunk at the wheel of a Ford F-350 back in 2013, attracting a lot of attention. Back then, Couch’s lawyers managed to persuade the court that their client was suffering from “affluenza”, a condition that describes a child whose parents never set limits for him. If you smell something, don’t worry, it’s just a lot of bullsh*t.

The judge then sentenced him in 10 years of probation instead of the proposed 20 years of jail time, leading to public outrage. The fugitive now faces 10 years in jail after violating his probation.
