Back in April 2014, the crew at Petrolicious were fortunate enough to get their hands on a rare 1964 Ferrari 250 GTO. As one of the most sought after and expensive cars on earth, seeing a 250 GTO anywhere other than in a museum is a rare occurrence, let alone having the chance to spend time with one alongside accomplished racing driver Derek Hill.

In their first video, Petrolicious included some truly incredible tracking shots of the rare beast while also interviewing Hill himself. Now, an uncut and truly amazing film of the car being driven at full speed up and down a closed mountain road has been released – and it is truly the stuff of a revhead’s dreams.

The Ferrari 250 GTO in question is chassis #5571 and was the very first unit outfitted with the Series II body. It is also one of just 36 examples of the 250 GTO ever produced and, given the fact that in 2013 a 1963 model sold for $52 million, watching one being taken to its limits on a public road is absolutely extraordinary.

Powering the car is a naturally-aspirated 3.0-litre V12 engine delivering around 300 hp. While such a figure is hot-hatch territory in the 21st century, 40 years ago it was quite a lot. What’s more, the light curb weight of the car as well as its lack of any electronic aids and a manual transmission make it a sensational driver’s car.
