In 2005, the revived, under VW Group’s umbrella, Bugatti made history with the launch of the Veyron 16.4, a technological masterpiece that became the fastest car in the world.

As if the 1,014 PS output of the quad-turbo W16 wasn’t enough, Molsheim raised its game to 1,200 PS with the Super Sport coupe and Grand Sport Vitesse open-top and, additionally, rolled out many special editions.

One of them is the World Record Edition of the Vitesse that’s currently for sale at HR Owen for the princely sum of £1,795,000, or $2.5 million. One of only eight ever produced, it is finished in Black Carbon Fiber with Orange painted Arancia Carbon Fiber elements. This color scheme was conceived for its record-breaking speed attempt that took place in April 2013. The Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse went on to hit 254.04 mph (408.84 km/h), making it the world’s fastest open top car – which should come as no surprise considering the power it packs.

This particular example is a UK car originally registered in October 2013 with just one previous owner. It has covered only 1,130 miles (1,818 km), or roughly the distance between London and Rome.

Anita Krizsan, Bugatti Brand Director for HR Owen, stated: “It was a pleasure to sell this car to its first owner the first time around, and we are delighted that our unique relationship with our clients means that we have the opportunity to help the car find its second owner. This is a fantastic example of an iconic car, which has been meticulously cared for in its life so far. It will make for a wonderful investment for collectors and enthusiast alike.”

Located at the Berkeley Square in London, HR Owen is the only official UK Bugatti dealer. This is also the only place where you’ll be able to buy the upcoming Chiron in the UK when it goes on sale later this year.
