After the introduction of the 500 1.3-liter MultiJet II turbodiesel in Britain, Fiat has announced the 1.2-liter Eco version is now available for order.

The latest addition to the 500 range is, according to the Italian automaker, equipped with “a host of efficiency technologies” that include a smart alternator, Start & Stop system, low rolling resistance 15-inch tires and improved underbody aerodynamics.

As a result, CO2 emissions have dropped from 110 to 99 g/km, eliminating the annual road tax billnd reducing the company car BIK tax liability from 17 to 14 percent over the standard 1.2 69PS (68hp) version.

Fuel economy of the city car was improved too and it now stands at 58.9 / 70.6 / 65.7 mpg UK (49 / 58.8 / 54.7 mpg US and 4.8 / 4 / 4.3L/100km) in urban, extra urban and combined cycle, respectively.

The 500 1.2 Eco comes with seven airbags, ABS with EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution), advanced ESC (Electronic Stability Control), ASR (anti-slip regulator), Hill Holder and HBA (Hydraulic Brake Assistance) as standard.

In the UK, it is available in Pop Star and Lounge trimes, priced from £11,865 on-the-road for the hatch, while the open-top 500Cstarts from £14,515.
