Hyundai Recalls Genesis Sedan Because Tires May Develop Sidewall Cracks

|

A number of 2015 Genesis sedans are been recalled due to an issue with their tires.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration states the rubber's sidewall cracks could cause a rupture during use. If it happens, it will result in rapid air loss, making the vehicle uncontrollable and increasing the risk of a crash. No injuries or deaths were been reported so far.

The recall affects a total of 11,142 2015MY cars built between March 3, 2014, and February 9, 2015.

The Korean firm will notify owners, and dealers will replace the factory tires with those of another brand, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on February 19, 2016.

In order to find out more on the campaign, owners of the specified cars should get in touch with their local dealerships, contact Hyundai Customer Service at 1-855-671-3059 (recall number 138) or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.

Hyundai's Genesis sedan is still sold in the US, but will soon switch to the Genesis G80 moniker, while its slightly larger and more luxurious Genesis G90 brother is ready to hit the road, after being showcased in Detroit.
