With a multitude of acronyms used by automakers these days, Porsche has decided to shed some light on one of them: the PTV Plus.

This is short for ‘Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus’, a system that “actively enhances vehicle dynamics and stability” on all 911 Turbo models, and which includes an electronic rear differential lock.

The safety feature brakes the inside rear wheel when cornering and transfers more torque to the outside one, leading to increased driving stability, heightened vehicle dynamics and enhanced steering precision.

Porsche unveiled the facelifted 911 Turbo and 911 Turbo S last month, with minimal visual changes and more power coming from the 3.8-liter bi-turbo flat-six engine, 20hp in both cases, at 540PS (533hp) and 580PS (572hp), respectively.

The 911 Turbo Coupe, in its updated form, needs 2.9sec to reach 60mph (96km/h) and can speed up to 199mph (320km/h), 3mph (5km/h) faster than its predecessor. When it comes to the “S”, Porsche shaved 0.1sec from the 0-60mph (96km/h) sprint compared to its less powerful sister, while its top speed stands at 205mph (330km/h).

In The States, Porsche’s refreshed 911 Turbo Coupe starts from $159,000 and the 911 Turbo S Coupe costs $188,100. For the 911 Turbo Cabriolet, customers will have to pay $171,500, while the 911 Turbo S Cabriolet is priced at $200,400.
