Up Close With Aston Martin's Absolutely Mental Vulcan
With Andy Palmer under the helm, Aston Martin is pushing forward with a dramatic product offensive on the back of its engine and electronics deal with Mercedes-AMG.
Last year, Aston unveiled the Vulcan; a track-only hypercar providing an alternative to the Ferrari FXX K and McLaren P1 GTR, that is unlike any other car ever produced by the carmaker.
As just 24 units are bound for production solely for track use, it's unlikely the press will ever get the chance to drive the Vulcan. From a visual and statistical standpoint however, Aston seems to have created a winner and a model worthy of being its halo supercar.
There's currently only one unit of the Vulcan residing in the United States and Saabkyle04 recently had the opportunity to check it out up close. Finished in a gorgeous shade of metallic red and adorned with a number of exposed carbon fiber elements, it certainly has a road presence equal to the P1 GTR and FXX K.
Power for the track-only hypercar is provided by a naturally-aspirated 7.0-liter V12 engine pumping out an insane 800 hp. It is believed that each of the 24 units sold for at least $2.3 million each.
