Cadillac’s 2017 XT5 is ready to arrive in US dealerships across the nation, slotting itself into one of the strongest segments in the premium SUV space, the midsize luxury crossover segment.

Built at the Spring Hill assembly facility outside of Nashville, the XT5 is the first model in a series of upcoming Cadillac luxury crossovers carrying the ‘XT’ designation. It also joins the model range shortly after Caddy’s new range-topping CT6 Sedan, as both models are looking to reflect the brand’s new positioning in the modern day luxury automotive marketplace.

According to company president Johan de Nysschen, Cadillac developed the XT5 “from the inside out to provide customers more space, more technology, more luxury and more efficiency,” which is definitely something you can’t do without, regardless of segment.

The 2017 XT5 crossover will be available in four trim levels, including a flagship Platinum model, representing a first for Cadillac in this segment. This version will come with a unique interior and exterior trim, and will be available in 7 exterior colors to go with 7 distinct interior environments. And yes, customers will also get to enjoy the brand’s award-winning (industry-first) Rear Camera Mirror system as long as they opt for the flagship version.

While prices for the XT5 start at $38,995, if you’re after the Platinum model, you’ll need $62,500 – for which you not only get extra tech, but also an all-wheel drive system as standard (optional on Luxury and Premium Luxury models).

In the US, the 2017 XT5 will be powered by the new 3.6-liter V6 engine that first made an appearance on the ATS and CTS sedans, and is also featured on the all-new CT6 saloon.
