Ford is facing huge demand for the new GT supercar, receiving more than 7,000 applications in just one week.

Since production of the mid-engined twin-turbo supercar will be limited in 250 cars per year, the vast majority of the applicants will never actually get a Ford GT.

Ford established an online ordering system, where prospective buyers were asked to fill a lengthy application form. Following the closing of the order books on May 12, the company will decide which one of the applicants is worthy of getting their new GT, in a process that might remind you the tactics of a certain Italian supercar brand.

Ford claims that they want to prioritize the customers who are going to drive, care and keep the car, discouraging the people who are just looking to resell their cars for profit.

Powered by a biturbo 3.5-litre V6 EcoBoost, the new Ford GT is expected to offer more than 600hp in its final production form. Prices are rumored to start at $450,000 in the US (that’s 500,000€ for Europe), making the new GT more expensive from a Lamborghini Aventador or a Ferrari F12.
