As opinions have started to come in regarding Red Bull’s Aeroscreen cockpit protection concept, it seems that both McLaren drivers favor it from an aesthetic perspective.

Jenson Button even went as far as to say that if F1 does elect to go with this design, people will eventually look back and think the cars “look weird without it.”

“I used to watch the F1 powerboats in Bristol with the family, with the open cockpit for many years, then they had the closed cockpit and it looked so much cooler. [But] that’s not a reason to have that option. It’s for safety and we have to choose the right option for safety.”

His teammate Fernando Alonso feels the same way, saying that “probably the Red Bull solution is a bit better from an aesthetic point of view.”

Of course he’s drawing a comparison to Ferrari’s solution, called the ‘Halo’ which also happens to have some fans among a few of the other drivers.

Williams’ Felipe Massa and Haas’s Romain Grosjean happen to favor Ferrari’s design, with the latter saying he prefers it because he thinks “in Formula 1 you have to get the helmet in the air. If not it becomes a closed car. So I’m more in favor of the halo.”

What do you guys think? Aeroscreen or Halo?
