Off-roaders don’t come much crazier than these two $220k-plus examples, but only one of them can take the crown of the silliest, yet most awesome SUV on the market.

You should be familiar with ICON’s FJ44 by now which is basically a totally re-engineered version of the iconic Toyota Landcruiser FJ40, using a new chassis, a new body and a supercharged 540hp 6.2-litre LS V8 blended together with shocking attention to detail, giving every person a good heartache from wanting one so bad.

On the other hand, we’ve got the legendary G-Class in the top, hand-made 65 AMG trim. Mercedes crammed their twin-turbo V12 engine with 621hp and 738lb ft of torque into the ladder chassis of the G while updating all the amenities and creature comforts up to modern, high-quality standards.

Motor Trend
tries to find out which one is arguably the better way to spend your $220k and why we tend to like so much these obviously flawed and ridiculous machines. All I know is that I would definitely sell some organs to get that FJ44 on my driveway.
