New Lincoln Continental Makes Its Asian Debut In China

Following a series of leaked images, Lincoln has lifted the veils off the new Continental in China, at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show.

The flagship sedan features no notable changes over its North American sibling and benefits from the firm’s new signature grille and LED lighting in the front fascia.

Open the front doors and the Lincoln mat will illuminate the pavement, showing potential hazards. Users will be greeted by the new “Perfect Position Seats”, which are said to be “inspired by private jets and high-end furniture”, adaptable up to 30 different ways, while rear passengers have audio and climate controls at their disposable sunshades, reclining heated and ventilated rear seats and generous legroom too.

Some of the features found on the new Continental include Active Noise Control, adaptive cruise control, Pre-Collision Assist, Pedestrian Detection, 360-degree camera system, Revel audio system specially designed to work with interior design and acoustics and a choice of three driving settings, sitting at the touch of a button: comfort, normal and sport. Users will also notice leather seating, leather-wrapped console and instrument panels, unique stitching, Artesian aluminum appliqués and genuine wood.

Power will come from a 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine producing 400 HP paired to an automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. Lincoln has yet to confirm any other powertrains for the Chinese market.

Lincoln will offer the new Continental in China with in available Presidential Series designer themes, called Chalet, Thoroughbred and Rhapsody. It will be available by the year’s end, after the car will go on sale in the US, where it will start from $45,485.
