Here are fresh photos of Mercedes-Benz’s open-top E-Class, brought to you by our restless spies.

Under the heavy cladding of this prototype there is the latest four-seater convertible of Mercedes and the fourth bodystyle of the latest E-Class, after the sedan, wagon and coupe variations.

Styling-wise, this one is not going to surprise anyone as Mercedes is presumably going to apply the same Russian doll-technique used in the smaller C-Class Convertible using the larger S-Class as the starting point.

Most of the petrol and diesel engines offered in the sedan will be also available here, with reports suggesting that the German company is also cooking a plug-in hybrid powertrain to be offered in all bodystyles.

Mercedes is going to reveal the wagon version of the E-Class really soon with the new Convertible to be presented in about a year from now and about six months after the debut of the Coupe model.

Despite the fact that the previous E-Class Coupe and Convertible were never offered with an AMG badge, there is a pretty good chance the new models will at least get an E43 edition.
