The Korean company updates their LCV versions of the Korando and Rexton models with a new Euro 6-compliant diesel engine.

Replacing the old 2.0-litre diesel unit, the new e-XDi220 turbo diesel engine not only produces almost 20 per cent more power at 178PS but is also more economical too, returning a combined 53.3mpg UK and 139g/km of CO2 emissions under the bonnet of the Korando CSE.

With the rear seats gone, the Korando LCV now offers a completely flat load area with a 1,312 litres of capacity. Payload is rated at 433kg with a 2 tonne towing ability. Customers will be able to choose between 2WD and 4WD versions.

The larger Rexton with the same engine returns a combined 40.4mpg UK, with CO2 emissions rated at 184g/km. Load volume is rated at 2.2 cubic metres, with the payload rated at 740kg and towing capacity at 3 tonnes. Given the ladder chassis of the Rexton, SsangYong expects to attract customers looking for a serious off-roader, offering at the same time all the equipment and comfort of the passenger model.

UK prices for the Korando 2.2 CSE start at £13,995 (excl. VAT) for the 2WD version while the Rexton 2.2 CSE starts at £19,495 (excl. VAT).
