After the unfortunate incident that led to a Camaro Z/28 crashing on the Nurburgring last week, Chevy rolled up its sleeves and released another prototype of the muscle car on the German track.

The vinyl stickers might be enough to trick the untrained eye on some parts of the exterior, but its reshaped grille, bulging hood, flared arches and large rear wing are a clear giveaway, and so is the growl of the updated powertrain.

Speaking of power, previous data indicates towards the usage of a tweaked 7.0-liter V8 that powered the previous iteration and, in an attempt to set it against the likes of the Ford Mustang GT350R, Chevy is believed to upgrade its output from the 505 HP it made on the last Z/28 to at least 540 horses.

It won’t be more powerful than the ZL1, but its lighter body, track-focused handling, electronic limited-slip differential, improved Magnetic Ride suspension, Performance Traction Management, Drive Mode Selector and Custom Launch Control will help beat its predecessor’s zero to sixty (96 km/h) time of 4.0 seconds.
