What do you do when your heart desires a Bugatti Veyron, but your pockets say otherwise? Why, you get yourself a replica, of course, and then bring it over to Cars & Coffee event for show and tell.

Yes, this rather well-built fake of a Bugatti – or is that a Fugatti?- Veyron that YouTuber Subaruwrxfan caught at this weekend’s Pittsburgh Cars & Coffee, is based on a Mercury Cougar and only 10 units were ever made, which means it’s a rather exclusive build, so to speak.

Despite the attention to detail, there are a few things off about it, like the overall proportions, the wheels, the steering wheel – yet people gathered around it nonetheless because whoever built the kit obviously knew what they were doing. They almost nailed the center console too.

This is  not be the first Mercury Cougar-based Veyron we’ve ever seen. Anybody who’s been with us since 2011, might still remember this car – a Veyron replica that cost just $89,000 at the time.

In return for your hard earned cash, you get the looks of a Bugatti (somewhat) but the performance of a V6-powered 2002 Cougar, along with its stock wheelbase, transmission, wiring, gauges and so on.

But really, who spends nearly $90k on something that looks like a slightly shrunken Veyron? There was another one on eBay more recently, priced at $59,900 – but even so, that’s real sports car money, which means the question becomes fake hypercar with none of the performance, or something like a brand new 2016 Corvette? Well, you don’t really have to answer that, do you now…
