Two weeks ago, a 29-year old man driving an old VW Passat Variant collided with a stationary VAZ 2131, resulting in minor injuries for both participants.

Reports claim that the driver of the VW refused a medical examination, but according to police officers present at the scene he showed classic signs of drug intoxication.

Traffic police also revealed that the man had been repeatedly prosecuted for various traffic violations in the past, including drunk driving.

Following this incident, he was deprived of his drivers license for a total of 54 months (4 and a half years), which seems like a good way of keeping him away from driving. On top of that, the car he was driving didn’t even belong to him, making his actions even more reckless.

Judging by the severity of the crash that could have had much greater consequences, is it an appropriate punishment for this type of behavior?
