After a leak gave us our first glance at the 2017 Opel-badged Zafira Tourer a few days back, both Vauxhall and Opel have come out and shared more than a few official images of their new MPV, set to hit EU showrooms this autumn.

There isn’t much setting the two models apart, aside from the different badges, but compared to the previous version, this one comes with a new headlamp design, new lower and upper grille, updated headlights and double wing daytime running lights.

“The front design of the new Zafira takes over the major characteristics of the one of the award winning new Astra, and anchors it in Opel’s new portfolio. Its sharp, precise double-winged daytime running lights convey a new level of sophistication, which is also reflected in the interior by a completely redesigned instrument panel. It is purer, clearer and easier to use,” said Mark Adams, GM Europe Design VP.

Indeed, gone is the old model’s boomerang-style front end, where now we see a more conventional yet dynamic look. It’s inside however that the new Zafira Tourer truly shines by taking some pointers from the award-winning all-new Astra.

The steering wheel is new, as is the infotainment system screen housing the latest generation IntelliLink system, complete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Also, thanks to the 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot, passengers can connect up to 7 mobile devices, while OnStar services such as Automatic Crash Response will be available for both Opel as well as Vauxhall owners.

As with the non-facelifted version, the driver and passenger will find plenty of comfort in the optional 6-way adjustable ergonomically certified sport seats, and plenty of utility from the multi-functional FlexRail console system.

In terms of practicality, the new Zafira minium load volume of 710 liters (25 cu ft) can be increased to 1,860 liters (65.6 cu ft) when the second-row seats are folded. Furthermore, the car comes with more than 30 storage possibilities, made up from the previously mentioned FlexRail center console but also the FlexFix rear-end carrier system.

Of course, a facelift wouldn’t be complete without safety and tech updates, which is why the new Zafira Tourer comes with Adaptive Forward Lighting LED headlights, a new-gen Opel Eye front camera, High Beam Assist, Traffic Sign Assist, Following Distance Indication, Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning and Adaptive Cruise Control.

For comfort and performance, customers can rely on the adaptive FlexRide chassis, while no changes were announced for the engine range that includes gasoline, diesel, LPG and CNG units.
