As consumers are buying more crossovers than ever, Mercedes is getting ready to expand the GLC family, with a range-topping AMG GLC 63.

Seen here is yet another prototype caught on the roads of Germany, which looks production-ready, with its beefed-up body kit and quad exhaust pipes.

The powerful compact model is, nevertheless, still a few months away from being revealed in its final form, as it is expected to go on sale in 2017, according to Autocar.

Contributing to its unique flare will be the upgrade chassis, Air Body Control air suspension with adaptive damping, re-tuned steering system and larger brakes, while the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, coming from the C63 AMG, will be found under the hood in two outputs, with 476 PS (470 HP) & 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque in the normal version and 510 PS (503 HP) & 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque in the “S”.
