Don’t be fooled by its moniker as VW’s new Russian market Polo GT is more of an accessorized Polo Sedan with some extra horses than a Polo GTI with a trunk.

VW dipped inside its vast parts shelf and dropped its 125PS (123hp) 1.4-liter turbocharged four into the Polo Sedan pairing it to a standard 6-speed manual or an optional 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that drive the front wheels.

Add 16-inch alloy wheels, a barely noticeable boot lid spoiler, gloss black roof and mirror caps, plastic honeycomb front grille and vents, dual chrome exhaust pipes, GT side sills, a flat-bottom sports steering wheel, plus checkered seat trims and extra comfort features, and you have the Polo GT.

The first 300 Russians to order the Polo GT will be able to get a special edition finished in white with black and red pin stripes on the bonnet and trunk.
