Built from specially developed ultra-lightweight titanium alloys and finished with matte carbon-fiber tailpipes, the new Akrapovic exhaust system for the Merc-AMG C63 & C63 S also boosts performance by roughly 8 HP and 28 Nm (21 lb-ft) of torque.

The number one goal of course was to make the car sound more aggressive, and with an active X connection and an additional pair of exhaust valves behind the rear mufflers, the Slovenian exhaust specialist managed to do just that.

Customers will be able to choose between two predefined sound characteristics and three different driving sound settings, though Akrapovic recommend that you use the optional Sound Kit controller since it will allow you to select the preferred exhaust tone regardless of the current mode the car is in.

According to the tuner, the “plug-and-play” installation process happens to be extremely simple so there’s also no need to remap the ECU or add any other parts.

As with other similar systems, the flaps open fully when the car is in its most aggressive driving mode, which in this case is Sport+, but its the overall versatility (multiple sound profiles) that impresses the most. You do get a taste of what the upgrade is all about in the video below, but we certainly wouldn’t blame you if you felt the need for an even more detailed demonstration.
