When Mercedes decided to drop the ML name in favor of the GLE, they knew the car itself could only be slightly upgraded until finally a brand new generation would take its place down the line.

Plus let’s be honest, the regular GLE hasn’t attracted nearly as much attention as its new Coupe version, ever since Mercedes decided to refresh their SUV lineup.

That being said, everything you knew and loved about the ML is obviously present with the GLE as well, which is something that Mat Watson points out during this review, along with the fact that even though the car feels slightly dated, its excellent materials and comfort features help it age extremely well.

Overall, this is a very in-depth review, in typical Carwow fashion. Aside from aesthetics and comfort he also touches on practicality, driving dynamics, engines, and in the end value where his conclusion regarding which version you should go for might just surprise you.

In this video, he’s driving the GLE 350d 4MATIC with the AMG Pack, which means it’s got AIRMATIC air suspension with Adaptive Damping, 20″ wheels and more aggressive styling, among other things.
