To the victor go the spoils. Or so the saying goes, at least. Only these days that doesn’t come down to conquering and pillaging through military might. Nowadays it’s all about athletics, not violence. But the athletes still get the prizes, and Chevy is only too glad to provide them.

The American automaker has a history of gifting the MVP a new car or truck. Remember the Chevy Colorado with all its “class-leading technology and stuff” awarded to the MVP of the 2014 World Series? Well that’s what the MVP of MVPs got this year as well.

For winning the MVP award at the 2016 All-Star Game at San Diego’s Petco Park on Tuesday night, Eric Hosmer was handed the keys to a brand-spankin’-new Colorado Diesel Midnight Edition. The special truck is based on the Z71 and packs a whole mess of upgrades, from a body-colored grille to murdered-out 17-inch wheels.

Think a diesel truck is a lame prize for the MVP? Hosmer could have gone home with a 50th Anniversary Edition Camaro SS Convertible, but went for the pickup instead. He’s earned the right to have it his way, though: he’s the first Kansas City Royal to win the award since Bo Jackson in 1989.
