If you were going to chase down tornadoes, what car would you take? Probably something big and heavy and with all-terrain capability, like a Hummer or a Suburban, right? Maybe a Land Rover. But a Jaguar?

Well, that’s what expert storm chaser “Tornado Tim” Baker used on his latest run, hitting the road in a new XF sedan.

Although it’s substantially lighter than the previous version, thanks largely to its aluminum-intensive construction, the new Jaguar XF incorporates several features that helped Baker locate the eye of the storm. vNot least of them is the luxury sedan’s available all-wheel drive and Adaptive Surface Response systems.

The navigation system helped Baker find his way around, and the on-board Wi-Fi kept his devices connected as he and his crew sought to intercept the twister’s path in order to gain more information and potentially save lives.

Whether we’d be brave enough to pick a Jag for such a task we don’t know, but we’re sure Baker and company stayed plenty comfortable throughout the 2,000-mile journey through seven states from Colorado to Minnesota and down to Illinois.
