The reason why modern racing simulators mimic so well the real deal is due to their creators spending countless hours in racing environments, analyzing the dynamics of motor vehicles.

That’s how the Gran Turismo franchise became one of the most prolific racing games of all time, and its producer, Kazunori Yamauchi, is no stranger to the track.

The Japanese game designer and professional racing driver’s company, Polyphony Digital, has become an important element in the automotive industry and racing scene, promoting cult-classic cars and manufacturers worldwide, and even developing the GT-R’s multifunction data display.

Yamauchi constantly perfects the Gran Turismo game, taking part in various racing series in order to better understand how the cars perform. He started racing in 2009, participating in VLN’s 8th race behind the wheel of a Lexus IS-F SP8. In 2010, Yamauchi returned to Nurburgring and finished 4th in his class, and from then on he was a regular on the circuit, competing for Schulze Motorsport in a Nissan GT-R

This year he competed in the 44th Nürburgring 24h race, using a Walkenhorst Motorsport BMW M6 GT3, and you can see the process in the video below.
