Further proof of just how special the Mercedes CLK63 AMG Black Series really is.

When Mercedes first released the Black Series version of the CLK 63 AMG, many reviewers talked about how the Germans have redefined the term ‘muscle car’.

It’s powered by one of the greatest V8 engines ever to be installed on a production vehicle, the notoriously loud and angry M156 which is also AMG’s very first engine produced by them in its entirety.

The 6.2-litre naturally aspirated engine produced 507hp and 465lb ft of torque, allowing the CLK Black to reach 60mph from a standstill in 4 seconds flat and 100mph in 8.8 seconds. The tracks were increased by 75mm at the front and by 66mm at the rear compared to the standard 63 AMG while the dampers, ride height and camber are all manually adjustable.

A mechanical locking differential with a shorter final drive and a specific-to-the-model cooling system means that the CLK Black means serious business and it’s not to be taken lightly.

Add to that one of the most glorious V8 soundtracks ever to be heard on this planet and it’s no wonder why Matt Farah is so happy when driving it on the latest One Take film.
