New Alaskan Pickup Brings Ruggedness To Renault’s Paris Stand

Sharing the same space with the TreZor Concept, Koleos Initiale Paris, and other local and international debuts, the all-new Renault Alaskan is on display in the French capital.

This is the diamond brand’s first ever global one-tonne pickup truck and it’s based on the Nissan Navara, just like the upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLT (name unconfirmed), as underneath the redone body panels it uses the same platform.

Depending on the market, buyers can choose from a 2.5-liter petrol engine with 160 horsepower, a pair of 2.5-liter diesels rated at 160 HP and 190 HP, respectively, and a 2.3-liter twin-turbo dCi, available in the exact same guises as the larger mill. These units can be hooked up to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed automatic gearbox, in 2WD or 4WD configurations with the latter models featuring an electronically limited slip differential.

The Renault Alaskan doesn’t only promise to have a best-in-class towing capacity at 3.5 tonnes, but also to be comfortable and family-friendly, with amenities such as the infotainment system with a 7-inch screen, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats and a 360-degree camera system to help the driver maneuver it safely.
