Citroen is preparing a brand new C5 and C6 family to launch early next decade with styling inspired by the eye-catching C-xperience concept.

Autocar claims that the carmaker is looking to launch an assault on the large luxury sedan market with its next-generation C5 and C6 models. It is reported that Citroen’s decision to make DS a standalone brand will help the company focus its attention towards the very top of the luxury vehicle market.

Recently, Citroen chief executive Linda Jackson said “We are a mainstream brand but have the ability to overturn the established codes of the mainstream. In fact, our customers now expect it. How far can we take that? Can we go high end? I would say yes. Whatever the segment is, we can do it, but in our own way.”

The new C5 and C6 are apparently set to receive comprehensive design overhauls to not only make them distinct from previous-generation models, but also ensure they have more flair than any other luxury sedans on the market. As such, much of the bold design elements of the C-xperience concept could make their way through to production, including the model’s low-slung body and futuristic interior bathed in interactive displays.

Elsewhere on a technology front, the next-gen C5 and C6 may introduce the company’s latest suspension system, offering impeccable ride comfort and limiting external noise and vibration.
