A BMW X5 was swallowed by a sinkhole in New York City’s Upper West Side on Tuesday after a water main broke.

The Drive reports that at approximately 9:18 pm on Monday, a pipe at the intersection of West 89th Street and Amsterdam Avenue started leaking water. This resulted in poor water pressure across the neighborhood and dirty water flowing from taps.

Things were even worse for the owner of this previous generation BMW X5 however as the ground opened up near the water main leak, leaving the German SUV clinging on for life as its wheels dropped into the ground and it began to sink.

Thankfully, the car wasn’t entirely swallowed by the sinkhole and doesn’t appear to have suffered too much damage.
