The Batpod used throughout The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises is currently up for sale through an online auction in the UK.

Expected to sell for between £60,000 and £80,000 ($80k to $106k) on Propstore, this Batpod is one of just six created for production of the two Batman films and was conceived by director Christopher Nolan and production designer Nathan Crowley.

In The Dark Knight, the Batpod was used by Batman during a battle with the Joker and later in an attempted rescue of character Rachel Dawes and the hunt for Harvey Dent. The Batpod then played a starring role in The Dark Knight Rises and featured in many of the battle scenes. Numerous promotional events for the two films were also graced with the presence of this very Batpod.

Underpinning the unique three-wheeler is a bespoke chassis and a 750cc Honda engine. Drive is sent to the ground thanks to sticky 31-inch Hoosier racing tires and the Batpod is made particularly light due to its heavy use of fiberglass and lightweight plastic. While it looks like a prop, it was completely functional on set and even has front and rear brakes and foam padding for the seat and knee rests.

Unfortunately, all of its fluids have been drained and the battery and fuel tank removed for the auction, meaning it no longer runs. Nevertheless, it would be an amazing addition to any burgeoning film memorabilia collection.
