The ‘Purple People Eater‘ is the nickname given to one of the most famous racing Corvettes ever produced. But if that vehicle’s name had to be used by a modern car, we think it would be this Dodge Viper.

Created by D3 Performance Engineering, the Viper in question is powered by an extensively modified V10 engine joined with two Precision turbochargers to deliver a total of 1,900 HP.

It doesn’t just have the ability to swallow people whole, but to spit them out of its massive, side-exiting exhaust pipes with ease.

The car recently hit the Texas Invitational in a number of rolling half mile drag races to see just what 1,900 hp and a purple Viper can deliver. After a series of runs, the highest speed achieved was 198 mph (318 km/h) – just shy of the 200 mph (320 km/h) goal.
