We live in a world where impending hybrid hypercars are promising Formula One levels of speed and luxurυ sedans are more accelerative than supercars from a few years ago. Case in point, the Audi S8 Plus.

While it may not have Audi Sport’s RS badge, the S8 Plus is seriously quick. Just how quick? Well the manufacturer says it’ll sprint from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, yet one YouTuber recently recorded a verified 3.4 second sprint in one.

The key contributor in such neck-snapping speeds is the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine of the S8 Plus. It pumps out an insane 605 PS (597 hp) and is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission sending power to the rear wheels.

As with other Audis, the S8 Plus also has a rather potent launch control system which forces the super-sedan into a squat before it launches forward at the same rate as a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640. This is despite the fact that it weighs the better part of 1,945 kg (4,288 pounds).

Who ever said luxo bargers can’t be fun?
