While Maserati has yet to confirm it, insiders suggest that a LaFerrari-based hybrid hypercar has already been given the green light.

It will act as the spiritual successor to the famed MC12 and, in all likelihood, be more limited than the LaFerrari. Although its drivetrain should remain identical to its Maranello sibling, the exterior styling of the Maserati will be totally bespoke.

While it’s impossible to know what the car will look like, Torina-based designer Andrea Ortile has rendered how he believes the car may look and, if the finished item looks anything like this, it’ll be plain fabulous.

The car maintains similar proportions to the LaFerrari, but incorporates trademark Maserati styling cues. The front, for example, has been inspired by the Alfieri concept, only slimmed down and widened for an even more menacing stance.

At the side, the car has been imagined with massive wheels and bold side skirts designed to channel air into the mid-mounted V12. The rear is just as wicked as the front, with ultra-thin LED taillights, dual exhaust pipes, a central F1-style fog light and a sizeable diffuser.
